Rosemary lives in Burley with her husband John, where they have a small coarse fishery. Over the years they have kept a variety of animals and birds, many of which appear in Rosemary's paintings. They have a grownup family and eight grandchildren. Rosemary started painting in 1978, attending evening classes. She then studied under Peter Folkes and John Butterworth at Southampton College of Art from 1981 to 1985 attending an advanced painting course one day a week. There she attained a certificate with credit. She is presently studying with Rosemary Sarah Welch painting mainly in pastels, enjoying the vibrancy of the colours and the versatility of the strokes that can be achieved. Rosemary has exhibited her work locally and has had paintings accepted in the past by the Society of Women Artists and the Pastel Society. She also exhibits at the Wessex Artists in Salisbury and Romsey. She has been exhibiting with THE WOODLANDERS since 1995.
